Megan Duffy-Legan has been in education since 2015. Before becoming an administrator, Mrs. Legan was a middle school band director for eight years in Darien. She has always enjoyed working with large groups of people, which inspired her to move from directing large bands to serving and leading a school. Mrs. Legan was an assistant principal at Jay Stream for two years before moving into the Principal role starting in the 2025-2026 school year .
Mrs. Legan holds her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and received her Masters in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University.
Mrs. Legan resides in Wheaton with her husband, two daughters and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, and doing anything active outdoors.
Mrs. Legan is passionate about ensuring all students feel they have a place at school to explore their interests, build on their strengths and reach their full potential. She values building strong relationships with students, families, and staff and looks forward to continuing to serve the Jayhawk community in her new role as principal.
Kelli Klein began her tenure as Assistant Principal of Jay Stream Middle School in the 2026–27 school year, bringing nearly two decades of dedicated middle-school experience to the leadership team. Prior to joining Jay Stream, she served for seven years as Assistant Principal at Stratford Middle School.
A passionate educator with a deep understanding of middle school learners, Ms. Klein spent 11 years in the classroom teaching 6th and 7th-grade mathematics before transitioning into school administration. Throughout her career, she has been deeply committed to supporting young adolescents during this critical developmental stage, fostering academic growth, emotional resilience, and a positive school climate. In her current role as Assistant Principal, she also serves as the school’s Student Services Chair, advocating for comprehensive student support and inclusive learning environments.
Ms. Klein earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with endorsements across all core content areas from Western Illinois University. She went on to complete two master’s degrees at Concordia University Chicago: one in Curriculum & Instruction and the other in Principal Preparation.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Klein enjoys traveling, cooking, listening to podcasts, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Stacey Knighton has been in education since 2012. Before becoming an administrator, she was a classroom teacher for three years in Mahomet, IL, and seven years in Glendale Heights, IL. She has taught 7th-grade mathematics and 6th-grade science throughout her career.
Ms. Knighton holds a Master of Arts degree from Concordia University Chicago, where she participated in the Principal Preparation Program. Her undergraduate studies at Illinois State University included endorsements in mathematics, science, and social studies instruction. Ms. Knighton’s teaching certificate is specific to middle school students. She enjoys working with this age group and helping them discover who they are and what they want to become in their young adolescent years.
In her Assistant Principal duties, Ms. Knighton serves as the school's Athletic Director.
On a more personal note, Ms. Knighton enjoys spending time with her large family, going on outdoor adventures (camping, fishing, kayaking), and traveling whenever possible.
