Megan Duffy-Legan has been in education since 2015. Before becoming an administrator, Mrs. Legan was a middle school band director for eight years in Darien. She has always enjoyed working with large groups of people, which inspired her to move from directing large bands to serving and leading a school. Mrs. Legan was an assistant principal at Jay Stream for two years before moving into the principal role. The 2025-2026 school year is Mrs. Legan's first year as the Jay Stream Middle School Principal.
Mrs. Legan holds her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and received her Masters in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University.
Mrs. Legan resides in Wheaton with her husband, two daughters and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, and doing anything active outdoors.
Mrs. Legan is passionate about ensuring all students feel they have a place at school to explore their interests, build on their strengths and reach their full potential. She values building strong relationships with students, families, and staff and is looking forward to serving the Jayhawk community in her new role as principal.
Stacey Knighton has been in education since 2012. Before becoming an administrator, she was a classroom teacher for three years in Mahomet, IL, and seven years in Glendale Heights, IL. She has taught 7th-grade mathematics and 6th-grade science throughout her career.
Ms. Knighton holds a Master of Arts degree from Concordia University Chicago, where she participated in the Principal Preparation Program. Her undergraduate studies at Illinois State University included endorsements in mathematics, science, and social studies instruction. Ms. Knighton’s teaching certificate is specific to middle school students. She enjoys working with this age group and helping them discover who they are and what they want to become in their young adolescent years.
Ms. Knighton serves as one of Jay Streams assistant principals and is the Student Services Team Chair.
On a more personal note, Ms. Knighton enjoys spending time with her large family, going on outdoor adventures (camping, fishing, kayaking), and traveling whenever possible.
Michael Riggio has been in education since 2016 with a background in Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education. Before joining Jay Stream Middle School as an Assistant Principal, Mr. Riggio taught two years at Nichols Middle School in Evanston, five years at Wheaton Warrenville South High School, and two years at Hinsdale Central High School. In addition to teaching, Mr. Riggio coached football, basketball, and baseball, which helped deepen his commitment to supporting students both in and out of the classroom.
Mr. Riggio earned his Bachelor’s degree from North Central College, where he also played collegiate football and baseball, and his two Master’s degrees in Pedagogy and Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He enjoys sports, fitness, and spending quality time with his wife and two children.
Passionate about student growth, Mr. Riggio believes that every student can learn and succeed when given the right support and encouragement. As the Assistant Principal at Jay Stream Middle School, he is excited to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to help every Jayhawk reach their full potential.
